Pokémon Go’s Explorer Box Microtransaction Sparks Outrage with $60 Price Tag

Derek Morgan

Pokémon Go players are expressing their frustration over the pricing of the Explorer Box microtransaction, which costs a staggering 7,000 PokéCoins. This equates to the same price as a AAA game, leaving many players feeling outraged.

The Explorer Box offer includes 50 Super Incubators and 50 Egg Incubators, which some players consider a good deal. However, the uncertainty of what these incubators might hatch and the odds of getting valuable items has left many questioning the worth of this expensive purchase.

While it is possible to earn PokéCoins by completing tasks, accumulating 7,000 coins would require months, or even a year, of saving for less active players. Some dedicated players have managed to save up enough coins and are willing to spend them on the Explorer Box.

The high price of the microtransaction has sparked frustration among players who feel that Pokémon Go either requires excessive grinding or spending money to progress in the game.

Player Comment
u/oppabadboy25 Naturally, players are fuming at the thought of a microtransaction being priced so aggressively, especially because you never know how much value you’ll get out of the items in it.
Another player One player who began saving coins since the Remote Raid pass nerf now has over 7,000 coins and is willing to cash it out for the Explorer Box full of incubators.
Another player Another player revealed how they have been struggling to get the very rare female Salandit and that they’re sure they wouldn’t get one even if they use 100 incubators. Well, if you have that many PokéCoins lying around, you might as well try, my friend.

Pokémon Go’s microtransactions continue to be a topic of debate, with players feeling frustrated by the high prices and uncertain value. Whether it’s grinding or spending money, advancing in the game can be a challenging task.
