A Pokémon player in Scarlet and Violet has managed to hack their Miraidon to obtain an exclusive Ribbon that is normally unattainable in the game. During an online battle, the player’s Miraidon appeared with the title “the Living Legend!” which is tied to a Ribbon from a previous Pokémon game. This raises questions about the legitimacy of the player’s Pokémon and the effectiveness of the game’s hack checkers.
In Scarlet and Violet, players can customize their Pokémon teams with Ribbons, which are unlocked through in-game challenges. However, the Ribbon tied to the title “the Living Legend!” is exclusive to a single event in HeartGold and SoulSilver. It is impossible for a Miraidon, introduced in Scarlet and Violet, to have this Ribbon legitimately.
Pokémon HOME allows for compatible Pokémon to be transferred into Scarlet and Violet, including those with Ribbons dating back to older games. However, transferring Pokémon from current generations to older titles is not possible. Therefore, it is clear that the player hacked their Miraidon to give it the Legend Ribbon and brought it into online matches.
Although the hacked Miraidon passed the online hack checkers, which flag Pokémon with modified abilities and stats, it reveals a loophole in the system. The hack checkers do not seem to apply to Ribbons, allowing players to bypass certain restrictions.
It is important to note that these hack checkers are in place to prevent illegal moves and other modifications from being used in online battles. Pokémon HOME also has its own set of checks to prevent illegal transfers. However, directly hacking a Pokémon into Scarlet and Violet bypasses these checks.
While hacking remains a controversial topic in the competitive Pokémon community, this incident sparked humorous discussions about time travel and paradoxes. Players joked about Dialga’s involvement or the possibility of Professor Turo’s time machine sending Miraidon further back in time. Some even suggested that defeating Red with Miraidon is possible in a ROM hack.
Ultimately, the Pokémon world is full of mysteries and unanswered questions. Whether it involves Celebi, Dialga, or Professor Turo’s curiosity, the “secret ingredient” to this time heist is simply crime. Players should be cautious and refrain from attempting similar hacks themselves.
