Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet DLC Highlights the Dark Side of Pokémon Battles

superadmin

The recently released DLC, The Teal Mask, for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet has brought attention to the dark side of Pokémon battles. While exploring the new region on a field trip, players have encountered a side quest that raises questions about the ethics of battling Pokémon.

One particular side quest involves a fight with the “Bloodmoon Beast,” which has left players feeling guilty about their actions. Reddit user u/KvasirMeadman shared their experience, expressing remorse for overpowering the creature. They described how they expected a tough battle but ended up easily defeating the Bloodmoon Beast with their Pokémon’s powerful attacks.

Another player, u/Noble_Jar, also admitted to underestimating the fight and using a high-level Pokémon to quickly defeat the Bloodmoon Beast. They found the situation ironic, as the game’s characters hyped up the battle while they essentially attacked a defenseless creature.

This encounter highlights the inherent violence in the Pokémon world and the controversial comparison of Pokémon battles to dog fighting. While this topic has been discussed among fans for years, the Bloodmoon Beast side quest emphasizes the issue even more strongly. Players are urged to approach the battle with empathy and consider the consequences of their actions.

However, it is worth noting that the Bloodmoon Beast does possess a powerful follow-up attack, so caution is still advised.
