The Pokémon Company has announced that bug fixes will be released for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in the coming weeks. However, these fixes do not address the main issues that most players have with the games.
According to the official Pokémon community forums, version 2.0.1 of SV will be released in the first half of October. This update will fix the NPC Trainer bug, which prevents players from receiving rewards for winning battles from challenges like the Oger Clan in The Teal Mask. It will also address an issue where certain special Pokémon cannot be transferred to SV via Pokémon HOME.
While these fixes are welcome improvements, they do not solve the real problem that many players have with the games. Despite several patches being released since SV’s launch last November, players are still dissatisfied with the minimal improvements to the frame rate and other performance issues that affect every aspect of the games. Lag spikes and visual bugs, especially in The Teal Mask’s Kitakami map, have been particularly problematic.
Players have been vocal about their dissatisfaction with TPC, expressing that these issues are not the only factors contributing to their poor experience with SV and its DLC. They also criticize the length of time it takes for these fixes to be implemented, as it will take over three weeks for just two fixes. In comparison, NetherRealm Studios addressed a game-breaking bug in Mortal Kombat 1 within a week of its discovery.
Furthermore, there has been criticism regarding the announcement of a physical bundle of Scarlet and Violet with its DLC, even though the second expansion, The Indigo Disk, has not been released yet.
With the lack of substantial fixes and the mishandling of updates, hope for improvements to address the flaws in Scarlet and Violet is diminishing. Nintendo and TPC have not made any statements regarding more significant fixes since last December.
