The upcoming DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, titled The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, is set to launch on Sept. 13. Japanese media outlets have had a sneak peek at some of the content featured in the expansion, and it seems that one of the base game’s biggest flaws has been addressed.
Famitsu and other Japanese publications have revealed that The Teal Mask DLC will not only introduce new and returning Pokémon, but also provide players with more customization options for their characters. While the extent of these updated cosmetics is still unknown, it is clear from the trailers that players will be able to dress their trainers in traditional outfits inspired by the culture surrounding Kitakami. This includes kimono- or haori-like garments and various new accessories available in a clothing shop within the DLC.
This addition is a welcome fix to one of the main criticisms players had since the release of Scarlet and Violet. The base game only offered four outfit options that players could rotate between, with no intricate customization available. Previous Pokémon games, such as X and Y, allowed players to mix and match different clothing items to give their trainers more personality. Scarlet and Violet limited players to school uniforms, which made sense for the academy setting but restricted customization.
The DLC will introduce several new clothing options, although the specifics of customization are still unclear. It is likely that players can purchase complete outfits and then add additional accessories to further personalize their trainers. The full list of updated customization options will be revealed upon the DLC’s release, showing how much Game Freak has listened to player feedback.
In addition to new outfits, the DLC will also include new hairstyles and more options for customizing and creating things during picnics. These features seem to be available early on in the DLC, based on the media’s preview.
Overall, the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC not only brings new Pokémon and gameplay mechanics but also addresses the lack of customization options in the base game. Players can look forward to dressing their trainers in traditional attire and personalizing their appearance with new accessories. The DLC is set to provide a more immersive and customizable experience for players when it launches on Sept. 13.
