The highly anticipated Pokémon Scarlet and Violet The Teal Mask DLC has finally been released globally on Sept. 13. Players have quickly completed the main story and are now diving into the side missions. One particular quest, however, requires a hefty donation of one million Pokédollars for a reward that may not feel worth it.
During the main story, players learn about Ogerpon and the Loyal Three—Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti. These legendary heroes are believed to have sacrificed their lives fighting Ogerpon, and the people of Kitakami pay their respects at the special monument in Loyalty Plaza.
Unfortunately, when the Loyal Three make their dramatic debut, they accidentally destroy their own monument. As a result, players are later asked to donate to the “We Love Loyalty Plaza” drive to fund the reconstruction of the beloved monument after completing the main story.
If you happen to have a spare million Pokédollars lying around, you can contribute to the rebuilding of the monument and help Kitakami. In return, you’ll receive a reward—a Flashy Festival Jinbei. However, the question remains: is this reward truly worth the hefty price tag?
The Flashy Festival Jinbei is essentially a brighter and shinier version of the outfit you initially receive upon arriving in Kitakami. If you enjoy character customization and clothing options, then go ahead and donate the million dollars for some new drip. Keep in mind that there aren’t many outfit choices available in Scarlet and Violet or the DLC.
On the other hand, if you’re not particularly interested in cosmetic upgrades, it might be wise to save your hard-earned Pokédollars for more practical purchases. Imagine all the useful items you could buy with one million Pokédollars instead.
Ultimately, the decision is yours. I, for one, feel obligated to wear the Flashy Festival Jinbei despite my lighter wallet. At least the monument is rebuilt, attracting tourists once again. You’re welcome, Kitakami.
