Premier League Club Wolves Esports to Enter Chinese VALORANT Scene, Potentially Ending Partnership with World Champions

superadmin

Wolves Esports, the esports organization affiliated with Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club, is set to venture into the rapidly growing Chinese VALORANT scene through open tryouts. However, this move may lead to the termination of their partnership with the reigning world champions.

The recruitment process for a Chinese VALORANT team has been initiated by Wolves FC, as announced on their official Weibo channel. The club is seeking players who have achieved Radiant rank and possess good teamwork skills.

Over the past year, the Wolves logo has been prominently displayed in the highest tier of competitive VALORANT. For more than two years, Wolves has collaborated with Evil Geniuses (EG) to expand into the Chinese market. Wolves played a crucial role in creating “local Mandarin content” for EG and had plans to provide a training base for the League of Legends team if they qualified for Worlds in 2021.

The EG VALORANT roster, donning the Wolves logo on their jerseys, achieved the extraordinary feat of transforming from an underperforming team in the lower half of VCT Americas to becoming world champions within a few months. However, the future of EG VALORANT is uncertain, as reports suggest that the organization has asked players to accept pay cuts to continue, while also rejecting transfer offers from other teams.

Chinese VALORANT has experienced a meteoric rise in recent months, with Champions 2023 becoming the most-watched global event in the game’s history. Teams like EDG and Bilibili have emerged as strong contenders on the international stage.
