Rainbow Six Siege Operation Deep Freeze: Competitive Players Concerned About New Defender and Secondary Gadget Meta

superadmin

The upcoming Rainbow Six Siege operation, Deep Freeze, has competitive players worried about the impact it will have on the game’s meta. Specifically, the changes to secondary gadgets have raised concerns among professional players, coaches, and managers.

One of the main reasons for their apprehension is the introduction of a new defender who has the ability to freeze players and all utilities, including breaches. This, combined with the removal of grenade cooking, may create a heavily defender-sided meta.

The changes to secondary gadgets and the addition of the new operator, Tubarão, have raised concerns about the balance between attackers and defenders. Attacking in Rainbow Six Siege is already challenging, and the removal of grenade cooking means defenders can easily avoid being killed by frag grenades.

Tubarão’s main gadget, the Zoto Canister, allows him to freeze players and utilities, making it a powerful tool for stalling defenders. Additionally, he comes equipped with a DMR, which is a highly effective weapon in LAN matches.

These updates, combined with the changes to the maps in the pool, have the potential to heavily favor defenders. It wouldn’t be surprising to see attackers struggling to navigate the powerful utility brought by defenders, resulting in 2-4 halves being celebrated as significant wins.

Professional teams are skilled at utilizing all the tools available in Rainbow Six Siege, and even they anticipate difficulties in dealing with the overwhelming defensive capabilities. The “20-second meta” from previous seasons is already a topic of concern among players, and this new meta has the potential to be even more skewed towards defenders.

While Siege is a tactical game, the power and accessibility of the new defender’s gadget raises concerns about the balance between attackers and defenders.
