Ravensburger, the game designer behind Disney Lorcana, is taking steps to improve the security of their booster boxes, starting with the release of Rise of the Floodborn. This move comes in response to previous issues with product availability and box security.
In October, Ravensburger addressed the availability problem by expanding print regions and increasing production capacity. However, the security of the booster boxes remained a concern.
The First Chapter booster boxes were vulnerable to tampering, although the limited supply mitigated the issue to some extent. The initial boxes had pull-tab zip strips on the bottom, but it was still possible to open the box without damaging the strip.
To combat this, Ravensburger has introduced “wafer seals” on the Rise of the Floodborn booster boxes. These clear and difficult-to-remove seals will prevent scammers from accessing the packs without leaving visible damage. The second main wave of The First Chapter booster boxes will also feature these seals, and all future booster boxes will be shrink-wrapped.
Players and collectors of Disney Lorcana are hopeful that the release of Rise of the Floodborn will not be plagued by product shortages like its predecessor. Despite high prices on the secondary market, all cards for the new set have been officially revealed and are accessible through the Disney Lorcana mobile app.
The enhanced security measures on the booster boxes will be implemented as early as November 17, providing players and collectors with peace of mind.
