VALORANT’s most explosive agent, Raze, is set to become less destructive with the introduction of new nerfs in Patch 7.09. Riot Games has targeted the explosion radius and damage of Raze’s Paint Shell grenades in order to balance her abilities.
The primary and secondary explosions of Paint Shells will now have a reduced radius and minimum damage. Additionally, the damage multiplier to enemy utility, such as Killjoy turrets or Cypher’s wires, has been decreased from 250 percent to 100 percent.
Furthermore, the Blast Pack will no longer deal damage unless it is fully armed, indicated by a green light on the satchel. The time required to arm the Blast Pack has also been increased from 0.5 seconds to 1.5 seconds. However, it seems that these changes will not affect Raze players’ ability to Blast Pack boost themselves.
The developers have stated that their intention is to make Raze feel more precise with her Paint Shells, allowing her to deal damage to enemies and enemy traps. This aligns with the overall agent balancing in this patch, as Riot aims to enhance the power of Sentinel trap setups, particularly those of Cypher.
In this patch, Cypher’s Trapwire receives a buff, reducing the time it takes to concuss and allowing it to re-arm in just half a second after concussing someone.
Raze has consistently been one of the top damage dealers in ranked VALORANT and is considered one of the most prolific duelist agents alongside Jett, despite her ultimate ability being less reliable.
The VALORANT Patch 7.09 is currently live on the PBE until October 30th, after which Riot will make any necessary adjustments before releasing the update to the live game.
