Raze’s Showstopper Ultimate in VALORANT: Inconsistent and Frustrating

Xavier Ward

Raze’s Showstopper ultimate in VALORANT has become a source of frustration for players as it consistently fails to deliver the expected results. Numerous clips circulating on social media platforms showcase instances where the ability detonates on top of an enemy player but fails to eliminate them. This inconsistency reflects poorly on Riot Games, the developers of VALORANT.

One recent clip posted on the main VALORANT subreddit demonstrates Raze firing her Showstopper from the B site on Haven towards a Sova. However, the projectile detonates right next to him, leaving him alive. Even upon closer examination, it is evident that Sova was within the blast radius. The post-death damage report further adds to the confusion, stating that Sova took 147 points of damage, while the Showstopper supposedly dealt 148 points of damage.

Although Raze’s team ultimately won the round as their own Sova managed to flank and eliminate the weakened enemy Sova, it remains frustrating to witness such inconsistencies. While Raze’s ultimate is designed to deal less damage to players on the edge of the explosion, there seems to be a lack of clarity regarding what constitutes a direct hit.

Some players speculate that the uneven terrain, such as the steps leading from the bottom of Mid to the B site, may have contributed to the missed kill. They claim to have encountered similar situations where opponents survived a direct blast from Raze’s ultimate due to being on stairs.

While opinions differ on whether the aforementioned clip shows a direct hit or not, there is a general consensus that Raze’s Showstopper is one of the most inconsistent ultimates in VALORANT.
