Redfall, published by Bethesda on May 2, has been a major letdown for gamers. With Black Friday deals approaching, gamers are willing to settle for almost anything other than this game.
Best Buy is currently offering Redfall for just $9.99, as shared by Wario64. However, for the same price, you can also purchase an Epson printer. Wario64 posted, “A printer or Redfall, take your pick,” and it seems that the printer is the obvious winner in this choice, as it has already sold out.
In the comments, many gamers expressed their preference for the printer. One person wrote, “I’d rather play with the printer,” while another mentioned the ability to print funny memes and share them with their grandma. Some noted the additional cost of ink for the printer, but at least it can be put to good use, unlike Redfall, which is best refunded.
Redfall’s launch was a disaster, plagued with numerous bugs and an unenjoyable gameplay loop. As a result, it has received only 31 percent positive reviews on Steam. One of the most popular reviews states, “Came free with my 4080 and I wish they would’ve paid more to not get it,” followed by, “May the lord have mercy upon the people who spend money on this game.”
As of now, Redfall has a mere 17 concurrent players according to Steam Charts. Despite this, Bethesda and developer studio Arkane are determined to salvage the game. On November 16, a major update was released, introducing a new weapon, balance changes, and stability fixes. It is difficult to comprehend why the developers are persisting with the game, but it is likely only a matter of time until they decide to pull the plug.
On a positive note, Microsoft has expressed its interest in being more involved with game development through its subsidiary studios, including Bethesda and Arkane. Hopefully, this means that future calamities like Redfall can be avoided.
