In a heartfelt video shared on social media, Darshan, one of the most well-known League of Legends professionals in North America, announced his retirement from competitive gaming on November 13. The top laner expressed that he no longer possesses the drive to continue playing at a competitive level. Instead, he plans to explore his passions in content creation, including music, dance, and art.
After a decade of dedicating himself to the game, Darshan expressed his gratitude towards everyone he has encountered in the eSports community, acknowledging the significant impact they have had on his life. He emphasized that these memories will forever hold a special place in his heart.
“I’m stepping away from playing, coaching, or any involvement in League of Legends… The main motivation that kept me going has faded away,” Darshan stated. “What truly motivates me now is the opportunity to share my authentic self with the community and the world. I have a deep passion for music, dance, and art, and I believe there are countless forms of content I can create.”
While the specifics of Darshan’s future endeavors remain unclear, his enthusiasm for content creation is evident.
This retirement marks the end of an era in the League of Legends community. Formerly known as ZionSpartan, Darshan has been an active participant in the North American scene since early 2012. He initially gained recognition with Team Coast and Dignitas in 2014 before joining CLG, where he played for nearly five years.
With two LCS titles, two appearances at Worlds, and a second-place finish at the Mid-Season Invitational in 2016, Darshan solidified his position in the NA scene. His accomplishments will undoubtedly be remembered for years to come, and he will be regarded as a veteran of the LCS.
