Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s latest DLC expansion, The Teal Mask, is already teasing a return to the Unova region and the possibility of remakes or sequels to Pokémon Black and White. The game’s update includes a call about a school trip to the Academy in Mesagoza, where players meet Briar, a teacher from Blueberry Academy located in Unova.
This marks the first time since 2009’s HeartGold and SoulSilver that players can actually travel to another region in a Pokémon game. While no specific location is mentioned, Blueberry Academy appears to be located out at sea, possibly near Undella Town or south of Castellia City.
These hints align with leaks suggesting that the DLC will contain a “big spoiler” for a future title. Drayton, a key character in The Indigo Disk DLC, is rumored to be connected to Drayden, the Dragon-type master and Opelucid City Gym Leader. This connection is further supported by Drayton’s use of Duraladon’s new evolution, Archaludon. Additionally, there is speculation that Lacey, another important trainer, is linked to Driftveil City Gym Leader Clay.
These clues raise exciting possibilities for a potential return to Unova in the next Pokémon game. It could be a remake of Pokémon Black and White or a new title expanding on the lore of the region, such as a Legends: Kyurem game. There is even a chance of seeing a true sequel to Black and White, similar to Pokémon Black 2 and White 2.
While this is all speculation based on early hints from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s DLC, it has already generated excitement within the community about how this game connects with previous titles.
