Riot Games has announced exciting upgrades to the VALORANT Premier tournament system for the upcoming Episode Seven, Act Two. These improvements come after successful testing phases and aim to enhance the competitive experience for players.
Furthermore, Riot plans to make Premier the sole path into Challengers by the end of 2024, solidifying its importance in the VALORANT competitive scene.
Consolidated Division Distribution
In the full launch of Premier, the division distribution will be consolidated from 20 numbered divisions per region to five categories: Open, Intermediate, Advanced, Elite, and Contender. Players will need to reach the Contender category to access the new path to pro system. This requirement will be mandatory for players competing in Challengers in 2024. Contender playoffs will serve as a promotion tournament to reach Challengers, aligning with Riot’s vision for the competitive structure.
Crests as Rewards
As an added incentive, players will have the opportunity to unlock Crests, which are trophies representing their best accomplishments in a season. Riot is particularly excited to see who will be the first to earn the prestigious Flawless Crest, awarded to players on teams that win every possible match in a season, including playoffs.
New Features and Enhancements
Premier will launch with several new features, including live match updates during playoffs and a comprehensive tracking system for player progress and records. The full seven-map pool, including the highly anticipated Breeze and rumored Sunset map, will be available for play. Additionally, players will have access to practice matches within Premier to prepare for upcoming weeks.
Qualification for End-of-Season Playoffs
With longer seasons and an expanded map pool, competitive VALORANT teams will need to earn 675 points to qualify for the end-of-season playoff bracket.
Premier will go live alongside VALORANT Episode Seven, Act Two on August 29th.
