Riot Games, known for sticking to its promises, has surprisingly backtracked on a crucial feature of VALORANT’s Patch 7.05. The competitive updates that were supposed to address smurfing and botting issues have not been implemented as initially announced.
The 7.05 update was expected to improve ranked play by preventing Ascendant players from queuing with those below Platinum One. This change aimed to tackle the growing problem of smurfing and botting in VALORANT.
However, Riot quietly removed this competitive update from the 7.05 patch notes without providing an explanation. Instead, they plan to address the smurfing and botting issues in the upcoming Patch 7.06.
It’s important to note that despite the absence of these changes, various outlets and leaks have confirmed their existence. Riot’s decision to delay the implementation of these updates remains unexplained.
While the ranked restrictions were tested in VALORANT’s PBE 7.05, they were also included in the recently concluded PBE 7.06. Patch 7.06 will primarily focus on addressing the smurfing and botting problems, and Riot has stated that they will closely monitor and ban any accounts suspected of botting abuse.
The developers may also introduce additional screening processes to enhance the competitive experience in VALORANT, which has been plagued by throwers, bots, and cheaters for some time now. Although the delay is frustrating, it suggests that Riot is taking the necessary steps to ensure a more secure and enjoyable competitive environment.
