Riot Games is set to shake up the Teamfight Tactics (TFT) ranked ladder with the launch of Set 10 Remix Rumble. This update will bring several significant changes, including the addition of a new tier called Emerald, reducing decay at higher Elos, and making it easier for casual players to rank up.
The Remix Rumble set, which will be the first without a Mid-Set update, is scheduled to last for four months instead of the usual six. To compensate for this change, Riot has decided to introduce the Emerald tier, which will sit between Platinum and Diamond ranks. This addition aims to improve skill-level matchups and ensure that players feel their rank accurately represents their skill.
Similar to its introduction in League of Legends, the Emerald tier will provide players with a new goal to strive for in TFT Set 10.
In addition to the new tier, Riot has also made adjustments to LP decay for high-Elo players. Players in Master and Grandmaster ranks will now lose less LP when taking time off, with an increased number of banked games available. Master players and above will have 14 banked games, allowing them to take at least two weeks off without penalty. Furthermore, the LP penalty for Master and Grandmaster players once their bank is empty has been reduced.
Here are the updated LP penalties:
Rank | LP Penalty |
---|---|
Master | -50 LP |
Grandmaster | -150 LP |
Challenger | -250 LP |
Riot has also taken into consideration the experience of casual players and has made it slightly easier and faster for them to rank up to Platinum and below. The introduction of the Emerald tier is not expected to slow down a player’s climb, as the longer season without decay will require more games to climb.
The TFT Set 10 Remix Rumble will be available for ranking up on live servers starting from November 21. Testing for the update has already begun on the PBE servers.
