Get ready for an epic climb in the upcoming 2024 ranked season of League of Legends because Riot Games is shaking things up with some massive alterations to Summoner’s Rift.
Riot has announced significant adjustments to the map’s terrain and brush placements, affecting the top lane, mid lane, and bottom lane. These changes include modifications to the layout of brushes, the addition of new pathways from the jungle, and more.
Equality Reigns in the Top Lane
To ensure fairness, Riot has made the top lane terrain symmetrical on both the blue and red sides. Additionally, a new wall and brush location have been added at the middle of the river entrance. These changes provide equal movement opportunities for both junglers, enhancing the potential for ganks and ambushes against unsuspecting enemies.
Balancing the Bottom Lane
Similar to the top lane, the bottom lane terrain has been mirrored on both sides. Both teams now have identical pathways and brushes from the jungle, eliminating any significant advantages for either side. These adjustments will require teams to use vision strategically to clear potential hiding spots for enemy players preparing for surprise attacks.
Intense River Battles
The jungle area will feature a new wall across from the Baron Nashor and dragon pits, allowing for smoother movement and more fluid gameplay. This addition creates unique teamfight angles, enabling teams to surprise their opponents by jumping over the wall during attempts to secure the Baron or dragon objectives.
Mid Lane Safety
In the mid lane, the mirrored brushes have been moved slightly further into the river. This adjustment benefits less mobile champions, giving them a better chance to escape from fast-moving junglers who are looking for easy kills.
Enhanced Parity and Strategy
Overall, Riot’s changes aim to bring more balance to all lanes. Both top and bottom lanes now carry equal risks when pushing waves or engaging in fights, as both sides have the same opportunities to respond with the same route as their opposing jungler. The mid lane offers increased safety for immobile champions, potentially solidifying their place in the meta. Vision will play a crucial role as more pathways open up for ambushes and coordinated team plays.
Summoners will have the opportunity to test out these exciting changes when they become available on the League PBE (Public Beta Environment) on November 20th.
