Riot Games is making adjustments to some of the most powerful champions in League of Legends in Patch 13.21. Lead Gameplay Designer, Matt “Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison, has revealed that six champions will be receiving nerfs, including Dr. Mundo, Caitlyn, Jinx, Rammus, Briar, and Aurelion Sol. These champions have been dominating their respective roles in the current patch, and the developers believe they need to be toned down.
According to Phroxzon, Dr. Mundo feels unbalanced after the durability patch, while Jinx has been wreaking havoc in the bottom lane, particularly in higher ranks. The other champions on the list have also been performing exceptionally well in their roles. The decision to nerf these champions is based on their overwhelming power and impact on the game.
It is evident from their win rates that these champions are currently dominating the game. Dr. Mundo has the highest win rate in the top lane, Rammus is excelling in the jungle, and Briar is performing exceptionally well. Aurelion Sol and Jinx are also among the top picks for midlane and AD Carry roles, respectively. The only outlier is Caitlyn, but the developers are targeting one of her builds rather than the champion as a whole.
Phroxzon explains that Lethality Caitlyn has become increasingly popular among higher-ranked players, to the point where it is becoming her most powerful and popular build. Therefore, the developers plan to reduce the strength of Lethality Caitlyn in the upcoming patch.
Patch 13.21 is scheduled to be released on October 21st. Players can expect these champion nerfs to bring more balance to the game and address the current dominance of these champions in their respective roles.
