Riot Games developers are planning to make additional changes to Baron Nashor, death timers, Turret plates, and Dragons in the upcoming Patch 13.20 of League of Legends. These changes aim to curb the snowball effect and provide teams with a better chance to bounce back from early disadvantages.
In a recent update, lead designer Matt “RiotPhroxzon” Leung-Harrison shared that the focus will be on Epic monsters like Baron and a stronger lineup of Dragons. The goal is to reduce the impact of early advantages and promote teamwork and macro gameplay.
Since the end of season 12, Riot has been working on limiting leads from early advantages. They have already made changes to the power of the jungle, items, and champion playstyles. Now, they are turning their attention to individual Dragon rewards, Dragon Souls, Rift Herald gold, death timers, Turret plates, Runes, and Baron health.
These adjustments are aimed at high Elo players who tend to snowball games. However, it is unclear how these changes will affect low Elo players. The value of early Dragons has been reduced, but the importance of Soul remains intact.
The expected outcome of these changes is a slower laning phase, increased focus on teamwork and team fighting for objectives, and less reliance on a single role to carry the game. The full details of Patch 13.20 will be released on October 3.
