Blizzard wastes no time in boosting Roadhog’s survivability in Overwatch 2, following his recent rework. The developers have made significant improvements to his Take a Breather ability, aiming to enhance the shieldless tank’s performance.
Overwatch 2 lead hero designer, Alec Dawson, took to social media to announce the latest changes. While the recharge speed of the resource bar was expected to receive a buff, the dev team went above and beyond, implementing four modifications to Take a Breather. These changes undoubtedly provide Roadhog with a substantial increase in survivability.
Dawson revealed the details of the Take a Breather buffs that were implemented:
– Total healing increased to 500 from 450.
– Damage reduction increased to 40 percent from 30.
– Maximum duration reduced to 2.5 seconds from three.
– Recharge time reduced to 10 seconds from 12.
In his social media post, Dawson acknowledged that the buff may have exceeded players’ expectations. He mentioned that the team would closely monitor Roadhog’s performance over the weekend and make further adjustments if necessary.
This rework for Roadhog arrives just before the introduction of another shieldless tank, Mauga, who is set to join the game’s roster on December 5. With these changes and the addition of Mauga, Blizzard aims to diversify the tank role and move away from the shield-dominant meta.
