Zombie Apocalypse in Scotland: Rockstar’s Abandoned Survival Game
Rockstar, the creators of Grand Theft Auto, had plans to develop a zombie game back in 2002, long before the zombie craze took over pop culture. The game, codenamed “Z,” was pitched by the studio’s art team and was set to take place in Scotland. However, the project was ultimately scrapped because it was deemed “too depressing” to work on. Even the creators themselves lost interest after just a month of development. The team later went on to create the highly acclaimed Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Agent: The Spy Game That Never Was
In addition to the cancelled zombie game, Rockstar also had plans for a James Bond-inspired spy game called “Agent.” Initially announced as a PlayStation exclusive in 2009, the game had a different internal codename: “Jimmy.” The protagonist, Jimmy, was of Scottish descent and used transforming vehicles to carry out missions set in the 1970s. However, the development of Agent was put on hold during the creation of GTA IV and eventually cancelled over a year into production.
