Shang-Chi Nerfed in Marvel Snap Update

Tim Price

Marvel Snap’s most dominant meta tech card, Shang-Chi, has finally been nerfed in the latest OTA update. This change alters one crucial number in his card text, making him slightly less powerful but still playable.

Previously, Shang-Chi had the ability to destroy all cards with nine or more power. However, with the update, this threshold has been increased to 10 or more power. While this opens up opportunities for other cards to shine, such as Black Cat, Rescue, Abomination, Living Tribunal, and occasionally Ronan or Devil Dinosaurs, some adjustments have been made to compensate for the change.

The decision to nerf Shang-Chi was prompted by his overwhelming popularity in decks. Although his performance metrics were average, his high play rate warranted a modification. To ensure he remains a viable option, certain cards with nine power have been adjusted to have 10 power instead. This includes Monster from Monster Island, She-Hulk, and Warpath, as well as Jessica Jones through her abilities.

In addition to the Shang-Chi nerf, the update also brings a buff to Strong Guy. He now has a power of three/three instead of four/four, but his ability allows him to reach nine power. This change actually enhances his gameplay since he no longer needs to worry about being destroyed by Shang-Chi.

The patch also includes the previously announced Mobius rollback and a buff to Dr. Strange, reducing his power cost from three to two.

For the full details of the update, you can refer to the patch notes on Marvel Snap’s website.
