Shroud Expresses Disappointment in Competitive Call of Duty

Tim Price

Call of Duty is not considered a viable competitive game out of the box, often requiring complex rules to maintain balance. Shroud expresses sadness when talented players choose to invest their skills in Call of Duty instead of games like Halo, Valorant, Counterstrike, or Apex.

The Call of Duty esports scene is distinct from its casual scene, making it a different game altogether. In contrast, other titles such as Counter-Strike, Valorant, and Halo are better suited for competitive gaming.

The annual cycle for competitive Call of Duty players remains consistent. They must navigate through the first month to determine the agreed-upon rules, while the ranked mode is often delayed for up to six months. By the time the meta stabilizes and solid maps are introduced, a new Call of Duty game is released, starting the cycle anew. Furthermore, recent Call of Duty releases have been plagued by numerous bugs and frustrations.

On the other hand, other games are purpose-built for competitive play or offer a more seamless transition between casual and competitive modes. While the Call of Duty competitive scene is strong, other games are simply better organized.

If you have a deep affection for Call of Duty and its unique features, continue enjoying it. However, if you are uncertain, it may be worth exploring other shooter games that offer a more straightforward and enjoyable experience without the need for excessive rule modifications. You might be pleasantly surprised by what you discover.
