Counter-Strike 2 may be on the horizon, but that hasn’t stopped pro players from achieving new milestones. Over the weekend, veteran player Snax made history by surpassing retired legend JW’s record for overall kills in CS:GO. With a total of 43,531 kills, Snax now holds the top spot, while JW sits in second place with 43,474 kills, according to HLTV.
Despite the impending release of CS2, Snax is still an active player and is currently competing under Pompa Team’s banner. His team recently emerged victorious in the PGE Polish Esport League Supercup held on Sunday.
JW, who retired on August 15, may struggle to maintain his position on the podium. He is currently being pursued by XANTARES from Eternal Fire and tasbeN from BIG, both of whom are less than 1,500 kills behind. However, with no official release date for CS2 and summer coming to an end, there is still a chance for them to catch up to the former Fnatic player.
While CS2 was announced on March 23, there have been no further details revealed by developers Valve. Leakers, however, have uncovered information suggesting that the game may be released on or before September 23. Although this should be taken with a grain of salt, fans are eagerly awaiting any news and hoping for a timely release.
