Overwatch 2’s most recent patch, released on October 19th, includes a bug fix for Sombra that has been hailed as a significant secret buff by fans. The fix allows Sombra to teleport even when she is stunned, as long as she throws her translocator before being crowd-controlled.
The update primarily addresses an issue where Sombra was unable to teleport if she was stunned after deploying the translocator. Although this bug was supposedly part of her rework in the previous update, it was only mentioned in today’s patch. With this fix, players can now throw the translocator, get stunned, and still teleport to safety.
Fans were pleasantly surprised by this change, considering it a major enhancement to Sombra’s abilities and utility. Some expressed astonishment that this feature was not originally included in her kit.
It is possible that this is how Sombra’s teleportation was intended to function from the start, but the rework caused a glitch that prevented her from escaping. While it may seem like a minor adjustment, it provides valuable escape options for Overwatch 2 players facing heroes with stun or crowd control abilities.
To fully utilize this bug fix, players must ensure they throw the translocator before getting crowd-controlled; otherwise, they will be unable to teleport. This means players need to be more aware of heroes with crowd control abilities after the update.
However, if the translocator is off cooldown and players have quick reaction times, they should be able to throw it just moments before being hit with a stun ability.
Players are now hopeful that this buff will improve Sombra’s struggling win rate, which has recently dropped to a low 45.19 percent according to Overwatch stats tracking website OverBuff.
Only time will tell if this fix is enough to give Sombra the boost she needs or if she requires additional buffs to her recently reworked abilities in Overwatch 2.
