Many fans feel that the transition to a new Spider-Man is being forced upon them and believe that Parker’s story is not yet finished. They are hoping to see more of him in Spider-Man 3.
The narrative director of Spider-Man 2, Ben Arfmann, had been hoping for a moment when Peter would pass the torch to Miles, and the ending of the sequel’s story fulfilled that wish. In the final moments of the game, Miles takes on the role of the one and only Spider-Man after a conversation with Peter about the Emily-May Foundation.
Despite this clear passing of the torch, some players are still concerned about hints in post-credit scenes that suggest the conclusion of the game has been forgotten. The battle between Spider-Man and Green Goblin, which occurs roughly 10 minutes after the passing of the torch, has left players feeling uncertain.
It is likely that we will still see Peter Parker in Spider-Man 3, but Miles is now set to be the main character. Peter may appear intermittently to assist with various bosses in the game, as there are multiple big-name villains teased in postgame cutscenes.
With the challenges ahead, it seems that more than one Spider-Man will be needed to take them on in the next installment of the story.
