The highly anticipated Splatoween event is returning to Splatoon on the Nintendo Switch, bringing with it a host of exciting updates and new features. The event will take place from October 27th to 29th and promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
Splatfest Theme: Best Friend Battle
Players will have the chance to participate in a special Splatfest during the Splatoween event. The theme for this Splatfest is “Which would be the best friend?” Players can choose to represent either team zombies, skeletons, or ghosts. Early team voting will open on October 20th, with the winning side receiving coins and Super Sea Snails as rewards.
New Cosmetics and Costumes
In addition to the Splatfest, players can look forward to new cosmetics and costumes. Four head cosmetics have been teased so far, including the Undead Head, Swim Reaper, The Plankton Walker, and Bleak Beak. These cosmetics will be worn by NPCs in the main lobby during the event. More cosmetic items will be revealed leading up to the event on the Splatoon 3 News channel in the Nintendo Switch home menu.
Exciting Lobby Transformations
The Splatoween event will bring about a complete transformation of the game’s lobbies. The Splatlands and DLC Inkopolis lobbies will be decked out in spooky decorations, with shining lights, themed floats, and special outfits for the Idols. Deep Cut and the Squid Sisters will be wearing new original costumes, while Callie and Marie will be dressed up as Jack-o’-lanterns.
Map Balance Adjustments
As part of the Splatoween event, there will be routine balance adjustments for weapons and maps. The first map to receive an update is Mahi-Mahi Resort, with in-game maintenance taking place from October 15th to 17th. The map’s unique gimmick, where most of it is underwater at the start of the game, has been a source of complaints. The blueprints for the update suggest possible solutions, such as extending the spawn platform and adding new high terrain to prevent spawn camping and sniper dominance.
Mark Your Calendars
Splatoween and the accompanying Splatfest will officially kick off on October 27th at 7pm CT and will last for three full days until October 29th at 7pm CT. Fans can expect more teasers and content reveals leading up to the event on the Nintendo Switch’s Splatoon News channel and the Splatoon North America account.
