Starfield players are facing a frustrating bug that causes all their stored items to disappear from specific homes. This issue is surprising considering that Fallout 4, the predecessor of Starfield, managed to prevent such problems almost a decade ago.
The affected homes are The Mercury Tower Penthouse in New Atlantis and The Well Apartment in The Well. These homes are located in overworld areas that reset to their default state after players complete certain missions and questlines. The UC Vanguard questline triggers the reset in New Atlantis, affecting the penthouse, while a nearby quest triggers the reset in The Well Apartment.
Unlike other homes in Starfield, which are housed in instanced areas and remain unaffected, these two homes are part of the overworld map and lose all stored items and furniture when the reset occurs.
The community is understandably frustrated with this bug. Players who have lost thousands of items express their disbelief, stating that this mechanic worked flawlessly in Fallout 4. Many find it dumbfounding and baffling that such a basic issue was not addressed.
Until a fix is implemented, it is advisable to refrain from decorating or storing items in The Mercury Tower Penthouse and The Well Apartment. However, players are not optimistic about a prompt resolution.
One Starfield player voices their concerns, saying, “We need quality-of-life and bug updates as soon as possible. It’s been over a month, and we still haven’t received a patch that addresses more than five issues. This game desperately needs fixes.”
The last Starfield patch was released on Monday, September 25, and players anticipate the next major content update in the coming weeks.
