Starfield Fans Mock Confusing Mechanics, Like Registering Stolen Starships with Pirates

Derek Morgan

Starfield fans are already poking fun at some of the perplexing mechanics and features in the game. One particular mechanic that makes no sense is the need to register stolen starships with pirates in order to sell them. Players find this requirement nonsensical and confusing.

In a Reddit thread on October 9th, a Starfield player shared their outrageous experience when attempting to sell their stolen starship to pirates. Instead of evading bureaucracy and laying low, they discovered that the Crimson Fleet, a group of pirates in the game, strictly follows proper procedures.

Surprisingly, if you want to sell a stolen starship on the black market, you must first register it. This registration process is not only illogical but also costly, almost equal to the amount you would receive from selling the ship. This bizarre mechanic has left players scratching their heads.

Some players jokingly suggested that this feature was implemented to help players avoid getting on the wrong side of the IRS (Internal Revenue Service). However, others defended the mechanic by theorizing that the Crimson Fleet registers starships to avoid attracting attention from the law.

Despite these theories, many players find this mechanic completely nonsensical. After all, why would someone choose to be a pirate and steal starships if they have to go through the hassle of registering and paying for them later? It takes away the thrill and profit of being a pirate. Fans hope that Bethesda will address this issue in a future update and provide a way to sell illegally obtained ships.
