The highly anticipated space-faring RPG, Starfield, has been left out of this year’s nominees for game of the year at The Game Awards. Instead, other titles such as Alan Wake 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Resident Evil 4, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have made the cut.
Baldur’s Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 lead the pack with eight nominations each, making Baldur’s Gate 3 the favorite to win the top prize. However, the absence of Starfield has disappointed many fans.
While all the nominated games are deserving, the exclusion of Starfield is a significant talking point. Despite its long-awaited release in September, Starfield only received a single nomination in the Best RPG category. Some may view this as a failure, while others see it as an injustice. Nevertheless, the competition this year is fierce, and there was bound to be a notable omission.
Starfield’s absence from the game of the year nominations will undoubtedly disappoint Xbox and Bethesda fans. The game’s exploration of space has captivated many players, making its exclusion even more disheartening.
The Game Awards 2023 will be streamed live on December 7th, where the winners will be announced.
