Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard has led to some significant revelations, including the initial plans for Starfield’s release. Internal emails from 2020 show that Microsoft executives had intended to launch Starfield on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows, with a projected release window in 2021. However, it was noted that no next-gen work had been done at that point. Unfortunately for PlayStation gamers, the game eventually became an Xbox exclusive.
The pandemic further delayed Starfield’s release, making the initial November 2021 target unrealistic. While PlayStation players may feel disappointed about missing out on Starfield, it’s worth noting that Xbox gamers have also missed out on numerous PlayStation exclusives.
In addition to Starfield, the leaked documents revealed plans for remakes of Fallout 3 and Oblivion. It remains unclear whether these remakes will be exclusive to Microsoft platforms. However, it is almost certain that Elder Scrolls VI will not be available on PlayStation.
Despite the disappointment for PlayStation gamers, they can take solace in the upcoming release of Spider-Man 2, which will be exclusive to their platform.
