Capcom has announced the release date for A.K.I., the latest DLC character in Street Fighter 6. However, the game developer is cautioning players not to attempt to fix her when she becomes available on September 27th.
A.K.I. appears to be a formidable fighter with a focus on poison-based attacks and fluid, unnatural movements. Her style is reminiscent of F.A.N.G, as she trained under him and references a master in the trailer.
Her agility is impressive, allowing her to maneuver around opponents with snake-like speed and flexibility. She can contort her body in ways that defy human limitations, making her a unique and unpredictable fighter.
Using her own version of the Poison Hand fighting style, A.K.I. relies on quick strikes and mobility to overwhelm her opponents. She possesses devastating grabs and can seamlessly navigate the stage, setting up cross-up attacks. Additionally, her poison bubble projectiles and whip-like extending weapons add to her arsenal.
A.K.I.’s abilities include the ability to drain her opponent’s life with a poison status effect, adding a strategic element to her gameplay. Capcom’s director, Takayuki Nakayama, describes her as excelling in long-range combat and controlling the stage, waiting for her prey to make a mistake.
While A.K.I.’s exact relationship with F.A.N.G is still unknown, her dialogue in the trailers and her use of poison suggest that she may be his protege. In a short story released by Capcom for Street Fighter 5, F.A.N.G encounters a Chinese woman who becomes infatuated with one of his daggers. It is possible that this woman and A.K.I. are one and the same, but more information will likely be revealed in the World Tour mode.
A.K.I.’s mysterious past and her violent and obsessive personality have already made her a fan favorite, with Capcom even warning players that she cannot be fixed. This adds to the excitement and anticipation surrounding the character’s release.
Whether players attempt to fix her or not, they will need to adapt their gameplay to counter her unique abilities. A.K.I. will be available as the second DLC fighter in Street Fighter 6 on September 27th, following Rashid’s release in July. A “A.K.I. Arrives!” Fighting Pass will also be available starting September 1st, offering cosmetic rewards themed around the new character.
