Spanish esports organization Team Heretics has officially rebranded the Call of Duty League (CDL) team Florida Mutineers as the Miami Heretics. The deal was finalized today as part of Heretics’ seven-year anniversary celebration.
CDL Roster | Retained Player | New Players |
---|---|---|
Miami Heretics | Vikul | Lucky, MettalZ, JurNii |
The Miami Heretics CDL roster will include Vikul, the Mutineers’ only Spanish player, alongside Lucky, MettalZ, and JurNii, who were part of the previous Heretics CoD lineup in 2019. Fans had anticipated this move since May when it was first reported.
Despite some doubts due to abandoned trademarks for the new team name, Heretics and Misfits Gaming Group, the Mutineers’ owners, reached an agreement. This marks the second deal between the two parties, following Misfits’ sale of its LEC spot to Heretics in July 2022.
Heretics withdrew from CoD after the 2019 season when the competitive circuit transitioned to the smaller, more exclusive CDL. The Mutineers have had varying success in the CDL, with their greatest achievements in the inaugural season, winning three Home Series events and earning $175,000 at the CDL Championship.
