The highly anticipated open-world apocalyptic MMO, The Day Before, has successfully regained its name and had its Steam page reinstated. However, the game has been hit with yet another delay, marking the third time its release has been pushed back.
The developers, FNTASTIC, announced the news on Twitter, expressing their gratitude to the Intellectual Property Tribunal and assuring their loyal players that the decision was made with their best interests in mind. The game was initially delisted from Steam in January 2023 due to a copyright issue surrounding its name. An individual had filed a trademark application before the developers could secure it.
With the name issue resolved, The Day Before is now available for viewing on Steam once again. However, the release date has been postponed to December 7, 2023. This latest delay has left fans disappointed, as they eagerly await the game’s arrival.
FNTASTIC provided further details about the release, stating that The Day Before will be launched in early access without any pre-order option. The early access version will be priced at $39. The developers have not set a specific date for the full version release, emphasizing that it will only happen when they are confident it is the best possible version of the game.
The development process of The Day Before has been marred by controversy. Initial excitement waned as players grew impatient for gameplay footage, and the trademark issue raised suspicions of a potential scam. The game also faced criticism for relying on a combination of full-time and part-time volunteers.
In an effort to regain trust, a new gameplay trailer has been released, showcasing the game’s “The Division but with zombies” vibe. The trailer highlights various features such as character customization, settings, looting system, hunger/thirst management, PvE and PvP gameplay, weapons, mission systems, and vehicles. Players will also have the opportunity to unlock and personalize their own ranch with furnishings and decorations.
While The Day Before is now available on Steam, pre-orders are not yet open, and user reviews have been disabled. This decision aims to prevent any potential misinformation or negative impact on the game’s reputation.
