The Elder Scrolls VI Will Not Be Available on PlayStation 5, According to Court Documents

superadmin

Fans eagerly awaiting the release of The Elder Scrolls VI will have to wait several years, and those hoping to play it on the PlayStation 5 will be disappointed, as recent court documents suggest.

According to court documents from the FTC vs. Microsoft case, The Elder Scrolls VI is expected to be released by Microsoft in 2026 or later. This information is presented in a table that outlines Microsoft’s approach to game releases following their acquisitions since 2018, including titles like Deathloop, Starfield, and Redfall.

While Starfield and Redfall were exclusive to Xbox and PC, The Elder Scrolls VI will be the first game in the franchise to be excluded from PlayStation since Microsoft acquired ZeniMax and Bethesda in 2021. Xbox head Phil Spencer’s statement from a 2021 GQ interview is referenced in the documents, where he expressed his desire to bring the full experience of their franchises to Xbox.

The court documents are from the FTC vs. Microsoft case, which Microsoft won earlier this year, allowing them to proceed with their $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The deal is expected to be finalized in October 2022. While there is a possibility of Microsoft and Sony reaching an agreement to bring The Elder Scrolls VI to PlayStation, similar to the Call of Duty deal, it seems that Microsoft intends to keep the game exclusive to Xbox and PC.
