The GOAT Becomes More Critical of Teammates in CS:GO

Tim Price

Throwing bad grenades in CS:GO or CS2 is a common occurrence for casual players, but now it’s become easier to identify the culprits. Valve recently changed the chat UI, assigning specific colors to each grenade type. This unintentional change has made it much easier for players like s1mple to pinpoint who’s responsible for the failed grenades.

s1mple, one of the top CS:GO players, expressed his approval of this new feature during a recent stream. He mentioned that it’s now possible to identify the individuals ruining games with their poor grenade throws. The color system allows players to quickly determine who threw a bad flashbang, smoke, incendiary, or HE grenade.

While it wasn’t impossible to catch the culprits before, the new color system speeds up the identification process. Previously, players could sometimes get away with blaming enemy grenades for their own mistakes. However, with the clear distinction in the chat, it’s harder to use this excuse and easier to locate the person responsible for the failed grenades.

Although this may seem like a minor quality-of-life change, it’s likely that Valve is pleased with s1mple’s positive feedback. The renowned player took a break from competitive play to attend to personal matters, but he has been vocal about the state of CS2 since its global release in September.

Fortunately, practicing grenades in CS2 is more accessible than in CS:GO. It’s advisable for all players to spend some time in a practice server before joining Premier games to avoid being criticized for throwing bad flashes or missing smoke grenades.
