Tomb Raider Games Remastered Collection Coming to Consoles and PC in February 2024

Sony has announced that the first three Tomb Raider games will be remastered and released as a collection for PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Steam, and Nintendo Switch. The remastered collection will include upgraded models and textures, as well as the expansions for each game, making them available on consoles for the first time ever. The release date is set for February 14, 2024, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Tomb Raider is a legendary gaming franchise that began in 1996 and revolutionized level design, movement, combat, and puzzles in the action-adventure genre. Fans of games like Uncharted owe a debt of gratitude to Lara Croft and her adventures.

The franchise consists of a total of 19 games, with the most recent release being Shadow of the Tomb Raider in 2018. The rebooted trilogy of Tomb Raider games, which includes Tomb Raider (2013), Rise of the Tomb Raider (2015), and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, received critical acclaim for their stunning graphics, immersive gameplay, and thrilling action sequences.

The remastering of the games is being handled by Aspyr and Crystal Dynamics, the original studio behind Tomb Raider. The aim is to enhance the visuals and potentially improve the controls to provide a more enjoyable experience for players.

While the original games were groundbreaking for their time, some aspects, such as the controls, may feel dated to modern players. Hopefully, the remastered collection will address these issues and offer a more polished and fluid gameplay experience.

In recent years, Lara Croft has made appearances outside of the gaming world. She even joined the roster of Call of Duty Warzone as a unique operator skin, showcasing her enduring popularity.

There are also rumors of a Netflix adaptation based on the Tomb Raider game series. Netflix’s upcoming DROP 01 event, which will showcase the platform’s gaming-related content, has sparked speculation about a potential Tomb Raider series. Viewers have noticed the Crystal Dynamics logo in one of the title cards, hinting at a possible collaboration.

Fans and newcomers alike can look forward to revisiting the iconic Tomb Raider games and experiencing the expansions on consoles for the first time. The remastered collection promises to deliver enhanced visuals and, hopefully, improved controls, ensuring that Lara Croft’s adventures continue to captivate players.
