Twitch users can now stream their content on multiple platforms simultaneously, as announced during the TwitchCon keynote. This new feature, previously limited to mobile apps like TikTok or Instagram, is now available on any platform, including YouTube and Kick.
Twitch CEO Dan Clancy revealed that this change aligns with an upcoming update to the platform’s Terms of Service. While Twitch wants to give streamers the freedom to broadcast on other services, they also aim to ensure that the Twitch user experience remains uncompromised.
However, there are some guidelines to follow. The simulcast on other platforms should provide a user experience that is at least equal to that on Twitch, including engagement with the Twitch community through chat. Additionally, streamers are not allowed to provide links redirecting viewers away from Twitch or use third-party services that merge chats from different platforms.
“You should have the freedom to decide which services you want to live stream on,” said Clancy.
This change has been highly requested by streamers who want to explore other platforms without losing their partnership status or potential revenue from multiple sites.
The simulcast rule change is now in effect, coinciding with the ongoing TwitchCon weekend in Las Vegas, which runs until Sunday, Oct. 22.
