League of Legends streamer Tyler1 has accomplished a remarkable feat in the world of online chess. In just 76 days since he started playing, he has surpassed an elo rating of 1,400. This is considered a highly competitive level in chess, and it is even more astonishing that Tyler1 achieved it in such a short period of time. Just a week ago, he reached the 1,200 threshold, demonstrating his rapid progress.
The momentous occasion was captured by the TrackingTyler1 channel on Twitch, which livestreams his games when he is not broadcasting them himself. Tyler1 has dedicated himself to the game of chess, streaming less frequently since he began his journey. However, his fans eagerly follow his progress and have been amazed by his dedication and impressive improvement.
Professional chess player Anna-Maja Kazarian took to social media to express her admiration, stating, “This is the most incredible grind I’ve ever witnessed.” Chess Master and commentator Levy “Gotham Chess” Rozman also reacted with astonishment, suggesting that Tyler1 may be one of the greatest chess prodigies ever.
To put Tyler1’s achievement into perspective, players become eligible for the prestigious Grandmaster title when they surpass a rating of 2,500 elo. On the other hand, a rating of 400 is considered beginner-level. The standard FIDE chess rating starts at 1,000 elo, which represents an entry competitive rating.
Tyler1’s elo rating of 1,400 was attained after participating in 2,435 games, averaging around 32 games per day. In August, he took part in the invitational chess tournament Pogchamp 5, reaching the quarterfinals before being defeated by Alex “I did a thing” Apollonov. Despite this setback, Tyler1 remained undeterred and continued his progress.
Although he has not publicly acknowledged his success, Tyler1’s fans can anticipate further developments in his chess journey. While he temporarily stopped playing after reaching the 1,400 threshold, it is likely that he will resume streaming his games in the near future.
