Ubisoft developers are closing down online servers for several long-standing titles, including Assassin’s Creed 2, Ghost Recon Future Soldier, and Trials Evolution. While players will still be able to access these games, multiplayer features and Ubisoft Connect will no longer be available starting from January 25, 2024. This decision primarily affects PC players, as six out of the ten servers being decommissioned are on this platform. Ubisoft had previously announced the impending shutdown of these servers over a year ago, with games like AC2 and Splinter Cell: Blacklist facing the same fate since October 1, 2022.
Although this news may disappoint older gamers, Ubisoft continues to release new games at a rapid pace. The latest installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise was launched in early October, and the company has plans to bring more fresh titles to the market. One such game is XDefiant, which aims to rival Call of Duty but does not have a confirmed release date yet. The beta version of XDefiant attracted a large number of players, although it also revealed some gameplay issues that Ubisoft needs to address.
Unfortunately, developing new games means allocating fewer resources to maintaining older Ubisoft titles. As a result, the following games will be losing their servers:

Assassin’s Creed 2 | PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 |
Ghost Recon Future Soldier | PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 |
