The ongoing Unrivaled Mewtwo Tera Raids in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are causing a divide among players. Some see the increased difficulty as a positive aspect, while others find it frustrating.
Previously, players were familiar with the challenges posed by seven-star Tera Raid events like Unrivaled Charizard and Unrivaled Greninja. These raids were tough but manageable, as long as players had a strong Pokémon and a solid strategy. Some even managed to beat them with unconventional choices like baby Pokémon or Magikarp.
However, the Mewtwo Tera Raids have taken the difficulty to a whole new level. The most effective strategy involves using four Mew, as this Mythical Pokémon receives significant stat boosts at the start of the raid. Winning requires coordination and teamwork among the entire team.
For those who enjoy a challenge and working together, this Tera Raid event is exciting. But for players who prefer to solo Tera Raids, it has become a nightmare.
The community is divided on the event’s difficulty and other issues with the raid format. Some players welcome the concept, including the opportunity to receive a free Mew and collaborate with other trainers to defeat a powerful raid boss. It brings back the excitement that was present when Scarlet and Violet were first released. Many players hope for similar Tera Raid events featuring rare Legendary and Mythical Pokémon like Deoxys and Rayquaza.
On the other hand, the difficulty of the Mewtwo Tera Raids is preventing many players from defeating and capturing the Psychic Legendary. The reliance on four Mew makes soloing the raid nearly impossible, forcing players to participate in group raids.
This poses several problems. Not all players have access to online group raids, which require a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. Even for those who do have the membership, teaming up with random players often lacks effective communication. This can be frustrating for players who don’t have a reliable way to play with trusted teammates. While some players have managed to solo the Mewtwo raid through luck, this method is not consistent.
Players are not necessarily asking for future Tera Raids to be as easy as previous ones, but they hope for a way to consistently solo raids without relying on luck. This would give everyone a fair chance to obtain their favorite Legendaries without experiencing excessive frustration.
