Unsettling Twist in Baldur’s Gate 3: The Darkest Path

Xavier Ward

In Baldur’s Gate 3, players are faced with numerous decisions, some more nuanced than others. However, one player has discovered a particularly terrifying resolution to Act One that takes the game to a whole new level of darkness.

While most players choose between siding with the Druids of the Emerald Grove and Tiefling refugees or the Cult of the Absolutist Goblins, this player found a unique spin on executing an “evil” playthrough as the Dark Urge.

**Spoiler Alert**

In this unsettling twist, instead of siding with the attacking Goblins, the player decides to steal the Idol of Silvanus worshipped by the Druids without investigating their tyrannical temporary leader, Kagha.

This action triggers a cutscene where the Druids declare war against the refugees they were previously protecting. They mercilessly slay the strongest Tieflings and imprison the rest. The remaining Druids then proceed to kill the imprisoned refugees.

What makes this path so disturbing is how easily players can passively watch the events unfold without needing to involve themselves in the fighting until all the Tieflings are slain, even though they are the ones who stole the idol in the first place.

“This, I think, is the most horrifying and evil way to handle Act One,” the player shared. “It was so bad that I definitely felt shaken after.”

While raiding the grove during a conventionally executed “evil” playthrough is already difficult for many players to stomach, this alternative path delves even deeper into the darkest elements of Baldur’s Gate 3.

For those seeking to explore the game’s darkest depths, this new approach to Act One offers a chilling and unsettling experience.
