It can’t get any worse than this: VALORANT’s remake system, a crucial feature for a competitive and team-centered tactical shooter, is unbalanced and in desperate need of reworking. Despite repeated pleas from the community, the issue remains unresolved.
A Reddit post by player u/RealXert19 shed light on the biggest problem with the remake voting system, sparking a relatable discussion among players. RealXert19 shared their team’s frustrating experience of being denied a remake because one player hit the F6 button. This seemingly foolish mistake is more common than one might think.
For those unfamiliar, VALORANT’s remake system allows a team to request a remake if one or more players disconnect in the first round. However, remakes are only permitted in the second round. This means that if a player goes AFK just one round later, the team must endure the entire game at a disadvantage.
While Riot Games aims to prevent abuse of the remake option, their current voting system falls short. All it takes is one player to vote “No,” and the team is forced to play with a missing teammate or surrender. This fails to address the increasing issue of players intentionally throwing matches.
Furthermore, VALORANT’s remake system has another flaw. If a player disconnects in the middle of the first round but manages to reconnect partially, they will still spawn in the second round. This makes no sense and needs to be rectified.
Players have suggested several improvements for the remake system, including adding a notification clarifying that remaking does not result in a loss or rating reduction. Additionally, there should be no voting system, and a disconnected player in the first round should automatically trigger a rematch. The UI design of the remake screen should also be distinct from that of a surrender screen. Furthermore, reducing the number of required votes from four to two or three could streamline the process.
VALORANT is plagued by players who use AutoHotKey to avoid detection as AFK, grief their teammates, and engage in other forms of sabotage. Riot Games has yet to offer a solution for these problems, with in-game reports often going ignored. This forces players to manually record and report incidents to seek justice.
Amidst all the glaring flaws in ranked play, players simply desire a more considerate remake system. It is a reasonable request that Riot Games should address.
