Valve Releases CS2 with Nostalgic Goodies for Former CS:GO Players

superadmin

Valve has finally launched CS2, the highly anticipated latest entry in the Counter-Strike franchise. The new game completely replaces its predecessor, CS:GO, on the storefront. To commemorate this moment and appease nostalgic players, Valve has offered some special goodies in CS2 for former CS:GO players.

Players logging into CS2 today will be greeted by a new soundtrack that features harsh and electronic tunes, similar to those heard in the development videos. However, there are also surprises for those with a nostalgic tilt. Valve has provided a commemorative badge and a CS:GO music kit to allow players to reminisce about the good times in Global Offensive.

The commemorative badge in CS2 is a golden coin with the blue CT defuse logo on one side and a reddish T emblem on the other, featuring the star and two crossed knives. The badge’s description states that it “commemorates loyal membership in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive community prior to the release of Counter-Strike 2” and includes the quotation “Legends never die.” It also displays the years 2012-2023, symbolizing the period of CS:GO’s existence.

The CS:GO music kit in CS2 replaces the main menu soundtrack and various sound effects, including those for round start and end, map objectives, ten-second warning, death camera, and MVP anthem. This allows players to experience the familiar sounds of CS:GO while playing the new game.

While commemorative medals and music kits are not new to Counter-Strike, this is the first time they have been used to directly intertwine the series’ past with its present. Although CS will never be the same again, players can take a trip down memory lane with the old sounds ringing in their ears.
