Valve’s choice to impose weapon restrictions in CS2’s deathmatch mode has left players questioning the developers’ reasoning. Gamers are demanding a free-for-all experience that allows them to choose any gun they desire.
Currently, Counter-Strike players can only use guns that correspond with their teams. This means players who want to practice their AK-47 spray have to wait for space on the T-side. Players are pleading with Valve to change the deathmatch system so that any gun can be used by any player at any time in the lobby.
The current setup is particularly frustrating because community maps in CS:GO already offer this freedom, and players believe Valve should consider implementing it as well. Valve has essentially transferred its version of deathmatch from Global Offensive to CS2 but failed to include health and ammunition replenishment after a successful kill, as well as spawn invincibility. Some community servers also have a higher tick rate.
Players have criticized Valve’s deathmatch servers as “fundamentally wrong” and claim that being restricted to certain weapons makes no sense. Some even accuse Valve of simply not caring about player feedback. Many players have opted to use community servers over Valve’s deathmatch variety, and if these servers return, it is likely that players will avoid the official CS2 servers once again.
There is still time for Valve to reconsider its approach to deathmatch. With the release of CS2 on the horizon, there is always room for improvement. The developers have released multiple updates in the last few weeks, indicating their commitment to making changes. As rumors circulate about CS2’s full release, we may expect more significant changes in the future.
