Alliance and Aurora Gaming Affected by Visa Problems
Several players will be unable to attend the Apex Legends Global Series Championship in Birmingham, U.K. due to visa issues that have persisted throughout the competitive year. Both EMEA teams, Alliance and Aurora Gaming, will be missing key players, but are still allowed to compete with substitutes.
Alliance’s Effect Replaced by Mande
Alliance’s Miron “Effect” Novikov will be absent from the event due to visa complications. In his place, Mikkel “Mande” Hestbek will be stepping in as a substitute player. However, if there is positive news regarding Effect’s visa before Friday, he may still join the team for the Championship. The squad remains confident and determined to bring home the victory.
Aurora Gaming Faces Double Absences
Aurora Gaming is facing a more significant setback, with two of their starting players unable to obtain visas. Team captain Kiryl “9impulse” Kostsiu and Lev “taskmast33r” Grigoriev will not be able to attend the Championship. The only player who managed to secure a visa in time is Syvatoslav “ojrein” Korochinsky. To fill the gaps, Jose “Uxako” Llosa from Entropiq and Keenan “Tax” Mackey from Myztro Gaming will be standing in for the event.
Visa Issues Recurring Problem for Both Teams
Unfortunately, this is not the first time that both Alliance and Aurora Gaming have faced visa issues. During the Split One Playoffs in February, the same problems arose, affecting a total of six teams. Despite the challenges, Alliance has previously performed well with Mande as a substitute player in past ALGS events.
Fire Beavers Forced to Withdraw
Fire Beavers, Aurora Gaming’s current roster, had to withdraw from the Championship as none of their members received visas in time. Interestingly, Aurora’s previous roster also encountered similar problems. According to the ALGS rulebook, both teams were required to withdraw since none of their registered starting players could attend. They were replaced by EMEA’s Horizon Union and Passion for the Playoffs, but still received Playoff Points for qualifying to the event, ultimately leading to their Championship invitation.
Possibility of Players Joining Mid-Championship
Despite the setbacks, both Alliance and Aurora Gaming have expressed that if any of the missing players manage to obtain their visas before or during the Championship, they will be allowed to rejoin the starting roster. Alliance’s Effect will only participate if his visa is approved before Friday, and regardless of who plays, a prize cut split has already been agreed upon between Effect and Mande, similar to the arrangement made during Split One.
The ALGS Championship commences on Wednesday, August 6, with Aurora Gaming from Group B competing in the first block of matches against Group A at 4am CT. Alliance from Group C follows immediately afterwards, facing Group D at 8am CT. Fans can watch the main broadcast on Twitch, and Command Center allows viewers to access each team’s direct perspective.
