The World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore Mak’Gora tournament, organized by OTK, kicked off on Oct. 30 with thrilling duels and will conclude on Oct. 31 with the finals. While the qualifiers proceeded smoothly, an unexpected incident occurred when the cameraman met an unfortunate demise in-game.
In typical WoW tournaments, a dedicated team of admins, camera crew, and referees ensure a seamless event. However, during the duel between Shamans Flixxy and Tod, the cameraman became an unintended casualty. One of the contestants utilized the Goblin Mortar trinket, dealing fire damage and stunning targets within a five-yard radius for three seconds.
Unfortunately, the cameraman, who was not at level 60, fell victim to this attack, resulting in their untimely demise. Normally, level 60 characters possess health pools ranging from 4,000 to 6,000, depending on buffs and armor.
Fortunately, the OTK crew had contingency plans in place, allowing the tournament to proceed smoothly after the incident. Surprisingly, the use of Goblin Mortar was not banned from the Mak’Gora tournament.
This incident sheds light on the vulnerability of cameramen and PR personnel, proving that they too can be susceptible to in-game damage. Each shot they capture could potentially be their last.
The grand finale of OTK’s Mak’Gora tournament will take place on Oct. 31, featuring 64 contestants. The eight winners from each class in the qualifiers stage will compete in intense duels to the death. The ultimate victor will claim the astounding prize of $50,000. Esteemed PvP icons such as Ziqo, Pshero, Perplexity, Hydramist, Vitochie, and Snutz are among the participants.
