Xbox Boss Promises Inclusivity for Call of Duty Players

Xavier Ward

Xbox boss Phil Spencer has reassured gamers that despite Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard, Call of Duty exclusives will not be limited to Xbox players. Spencer emphasized his commitment to inclusivity and fairness, stating that he wants all Call of Duty players, including those on PlayStation and Nintendo, to feel fully part of the community.

During an episode of the official Xbox Podcast, Spencer expressed his desire for 100 percent parity across all platforms in terms of launch and content. While there may be differences in resolution and frame rates due to platform performance, he believes that no player should miss out on content, skins, or timing simply because of the console they are playing on.

This approach marks a departure from the industry’s history of exclusive content causing division among players. Spencer acknowledged that Xbox has been on the receiving end of this, with certain content and betas not being available on Xbox immediately. He believes that such practices do not benefit the community or the game itself.

While exclusives are not ruled out entirely, Xbox’s focus is on creating a gaming community that transcends console wars. The goal is to prioritize the player’s fun and experience, regardless of the platform they choose to play on. This shift sets a new standard in the industry and emphasizes the importance of inclusivity and unity among gamers.

Overall, Xbox’s commitment to inclusivity in the Call of Duty franchise is a positive step forward. By prioritizing the gaming community as a whole, Xbox aims to create an environment where all players feel valued and included, regardless of their console choice.
