Zenyatta, the support hero in Overwatch 2, has been a thorn in the side of many tanks. However, a recent patch has brought changes that will make life a bit easier for tank players. The patch, released on October 31, includes nerfs to Zenyatta’s Orb of Discord ability, following feedback from tank players who found it frustrating to play against.
The Orb of Discord now has an effective cooldown, making it possible for tanks to counter it. If the debuff is removed from a target, it cannot be reapplied for seven seconds. This means that if a player manages to remove the debuff or gets out of Zenyatta’s line of sight, they will have some freedom for a short period of time.
The goal of these changes is to provide more counterplay against the Orb of Discord and encourage Zenyatta players to think strategically about who to target. Once the effect ends, the target will be temporarily immune to the Orb of Discord.
To balance out this nerf, Blizzard has increased the range of the Orb of Discord from 30 to 40 meters. They have also increased Zenyatta’s total health to 225 and extended the amount of time a player can be out of line of sight while still maintaining the Harmony Orb.
These slight buffs to Zenyatta’s survivability and healing potential aim to keep the hero viable despite the nerf to his Orb of Discord.
Hero | Ability | Change |
---|---|---|
